AMBERLEY PARK
GALLOWAYS

HISTORY
Hainsworth Thomas Cock
My Great Grandfather Hainsworth T Cock started breeding Galloways in 1962 on the banks of the Yarra River at "Amberley Park", Lower Plenty with foundation stock from Bukalong and Swatchfield herds. Hainsworth believed the Galloway had excellent carcass qualities with high yields and the amazing ability to survive and thrive on sparse vegetation.

BREED OF CHOICE
Malcolm John Cock
Malcolm Cock and wife Carol continued to manage the Amberley Park herd at Buchan, Victoria. Over the years Malcolm achieved much success in Grazing Trials, Agricultural Shows, Carcass Competitions, AI, ET programs to improve the genetic and diversity of the breed.

GALLOWAYS
The Galloway is a very old Scottish breed. The oldest naturally polled beef breed in the world. The breed is notable for its unique double coat, able to withstand extreme climate and encourages good intramuscular fat marbling in the  beef. The Carcase of the galloway is of excellent quality, with high yields. One of the most notable characteristics of the Galloway female is her ability to rear calves naturally under all conditions. Galloway's are extremely fertile, ease of calving, protective mothers and abundant supply of milk. Galloway's non-selective grazing habits and ability to thrive on grass with low inputs aids Biodiversity. With the shift to agroecological and sustainable farming practice, the Galloway cattle breed is widely considered to be an ecosystem asset.

NEXT GENERATION
Hannah Rae Cock
After the dispersal of the Amberley Park herd in 2015, Malcolm asked if someone in the family would take on the challenge. Growing up on the family farm at Morundah, I was fortunate to be able to take this opportunity and keep the tradition of breeding Galloway's in the family. "Strathvean" Tarcutta is now home of Amberley Park Galloways.

Committed to a Sustainable Future
Striving to Breed Better Cattle. Amberley Park Galloway's are know for calving ease, great mothering and fertility. Great feed efficiency and growth rates. Committed to structure, conformation and temperament. To continue Amberley Park's recognition of the importance of cross breeding for hybrid vigour. Our breeding vision is to produce F1 cows - Angus x Galloway known as "Scottish Blacks”.
